Mixed Media Artist

Bio

Japanese multimedia artist living in NYC, 1998. I'm a multimedia artist working in painting, sculpture, and digital drawing. I was born and raised in Japan and came to New York in 2016, both of these homes have had a significant impact on my work. As for paintings, I draw myself and a koi fish as a symbol of Japanese culture. My paintings often incorporate glimpses of my own narrative, but I want people to find their own stories in them too. I experimented with body casting at college, and since then it has become important for me to “capture this moment in the moving days.” I only use my own body for casting. During the pandemic, I learned digital drawing through self-study. I am trying to discover more ways to incorporate digital resources into my paintings and sculptures.
