Bio
I’m Joshua Astridge, in art ‘Jottie’. I am a self-taught artist, creating mainly abstract art. Painting is an emotional outlet for me; I feel my way through the painting process, using colour and shape instinctively. I believe my art reflects a message that I want to share but do not know how to express, or maybe words cannot. I attempt to convey this through contrast and beauty, as was woven through the Central Australian desert landscape of my birth-place, Alice Springs, NT Australia. Liquid Arsenal inspired me to meditate on the in-separable nature of time, creation and destruction, as depicted through water’s omni-presence in it’s many forms, it’s transience and permanence. Water flows through time, gathering and forming as it moves sediment to coalesce and transform into the very clay of our existence; a mystery we can only catch momentary glimpses of through contemplating our Journey Into Creation.
