Bio
Ernesto Martín Benavides (Teti) was born on July 12, 1975, in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. A self-taught visual artist, he began his artistic journey after a transformative trip throug bbh Europe, where direct encounters with the works of Kandinsky, Pollock, and Banksy sparked a deep interest in painting. This experience marked the beginning of his aesthetic and philosophical exploration. His work falls within the realm of abstract art and is developed using mixed media techniques that blend various materials and supports. His creations bear a strong humanistic imprint, influenced by readings of both contemporary and classical philosophers and thinkers. Their ideas echo throughout his compositions, rhythms, and the concepts that underpin his pieces. Teti’s art explores not only the visual, but also the symbolic and existential, establishing a dialogue between chaos and order, reason and emotion. He has participated in several notable exhibitions, including BADA (Buenos Aires Directo de Artista), where he showcased his work in 2021 (October 7–14) and again in 2022. He was also featured in the collective exhibition “Expo Sinestesia” at Café de las Artes, a cultural space in his hometown of La Plata. Through an authentic and sensitive body of work, Ernesto Martín Benavides continues to develop a coherent and ever-evolving artistic practice that invites viewers to reflect deeply on the human condition, society, and art as a vehicle for transformation.
