Description
A horizon suspended between revelation and dissolution. The sea, restless yet eternal, gathers the last embers of a fading sun, while the sky fractures into a theatre of shifting atmospheres—light and shadow negotiating their fragile dominion. In this work, perception becomes substance. The title, “We are what we see,” unfolds not as a statement but as a quiet ontological claim: that identity is shaped, even dissolved, in the act of looking. The landscape is not merely observed—it is internalised, refracted, and returned as a mirror of the self. The brushwork, fluid and almost volatile, resists fixation. Forms emerge only to dissolve again, suggesting the instability of memory and the ephemeral nature of experience. The sea, in its perpetual motion, echoes this condition—never the same, yet always recognisable. Light lingers on the water’s surface like a fleeting certainty, only to be broken by the next advancing wave. There is, beneath the visual turbulence, a meditative stillness. A quiet insistence that reality is not fixed, but negotiated through perception. What we see is never neutral—it is imbued with longing, with memory, with the unseen architecture of our inner world. Thus, the piece becomes less a seascape than an introspective field: a place where the external dissolves into the internal, and where seeing itself becomes an act of becoming.
