Tiz is a Colombian artist who currently resides in Monterrey, Mexico. Her artistic project has been built from two important events in her life: first, a condition called congenital toxoplasmosis that affected both eyes and limits her vision. For Tiz, this became an oppor-tunity to explore and develop her other senses, completely changing her perspective of the world. On the other hand, she grew up in Medellin in the 80s and 90s where narco-terrorism had violent repercussions. Still, Tiz experienced the resurgence of the country through the resilience and unity of its people which is an important inspiration for her work.
In this way, and from these experiences, her way of absorbing the world and representing reality is characterized by the play of light, shadow and its infinite nuances. Her work is largely influenced by her roots, but also by her multiple trips and stays in other Latin American countries and around the world. Mexico, for its part, has been a watershed in her life, since its cultural and spiritual richness have led her to an introspection and transition that have greatly impacted her creative expression.
