Flowers in the Attic, references the 1987 psychological thriller film of the same name. If you watched the movie, you will immediately recognize the connection. These flowers were from a beautiful, over-sized bouquet that was delivered to my aunt for Mother’s Day 2021. The moment I saw the bouquet, my soul
identified with memories of the movie and the idea of physical and psychological liberation. I waited a few days for them to wilt and be discarded. I marveled at the idea of the frailty of living things when they are
disconnected or cut off from their source of life. How their physical appearance and life force diminish and they are no longer as relevant as they were when they were full of life and radiant beauty. Living things were created to be free, to flourish, to share their unique souls and gifts and to express their beau-ty and radiance. There is no power in being locked away in the attic of our minds whether by choice or by force.
