Ioana Cobzaru is a visual artist and independent curator based in The Netherlands. She has been exposed to art and culture at a young age, started playing classic piano at age 5 and went to a music and art oriented school for the next 10 years, preparating for a career in the artistic field. Nevertheless she chose to become a scientist and started to photograph in her twenties. During the past years she used the experience and the organizational skills that she developed working in various international environments to manage cultural events and participate in different photo organizations. She is curating work of women (identyfing) photographers for Photo Femme United (Paris) and reviews exhibitions for the national photography platform Photo31 (The Netherlands). As a visual artist/photographer Ioana participated in exhibitions in The Netherlands and abroad (Rotterdam, Berlin, New York, Wales, Milan, Paris, London, India and Melbourne) and her work has been included in art books such as ‘Human Body is Art’ (Bruxelles Art Vue, 2021), the Dutch Artist Guide (2021) and Fotobook (Ede Books, Malta). She enjoys mak-ing portraits and still lives with a twist, mostly using natural light and being fascinated by the Dutch Old Masters and the Japanese photography and crafts.
