Bio

Michel Jesse - born in 1966. I am an artist by vocation, but one who is not took the straight path. I spent my childhood as the son of an Italian painter, sculptor and professor of art history in Padua surrounded by the beauty and rich cultural history of Veneto. These are for me lasting impressions. But I wanted to become a landscape and portrait painter like my father couldn’t. At the age of 11 I moved to my mother in Bielefeld, Westphalia. She was a travel journalist so I obviously inherited curiosity and a strong wanderlust from her. After graduating from high school, I decided to go to a private art school for visiting Moder Art in California and then it began an adventure for me that continues to these days: I started experimenting with colors, shapes and forms of expression. I lived in the USA and Australia for several years. I studied and worked there and organized my first exhibitions. Above all, my personal artistic vocabulary is made of strong colors that I use boldly. At the same time, I combine them with other materials, which most of my works do in a playful process to object art. The proximity to the pop art of the 1960s is wanted, but interpreted in a contemporary way. Since the year 2000, I found a new adopted home in Berlin. My works are been shown in Bielefeld, Düsseldorf and Berlin.
