Bio

Tosca Arnout and Jessica Thorborg Tosca Arnout My name is Tosca Arnout and I’m a self-taught intuitive Dutch abstract artist living in Arnhem. After series of big life changing events in the past couple of years it became clear to me I needed to do things differently. At the end of 2019 a dear friend challenged me to take the big blanc canvas in the corner and try to create something on it. She reassured me, no one is using it and you can’t mess it up because otherwise it will stay blanc forever. I took the challenge and I’m so glad that I did. This is how I discovered painting and it got me out of my head and get me in a place where I can create something from within myself. Through abstract painting I can express myself in ways that I can’t put words to. At the moment I mainly paint with acrylics and I like to use a wide variety of colors and techniques. My main inspiration comes from everyday life. You can see my art as a diary, they are all the moods that are a part of how I feel in daily life; happiness, joy, sadness and anger. I want my paintings to tell a story of how I felt in the moment I’ve painted them. Jessica Thorborg My name is Jessica Thorborg. I am a self-taught, intuitive Dutch abstract artist, living in Bloemendaal. I’ve had quite a few challenges in my life. Painting has always been a way of expressing myself. Due to quite a long difficult period in my life the inspiration disappeared. I felt like I lost a piece of myself in this period. From then on I couldn’t express myself through art anymore. Last year things started to change. I found that lost piece of myself and almost immediately started to make art again. The connection in myself, with myself, restored and I discovered that everything is already there in me. I just have to let it flow. I find inspiration in the things around me, like nature, music and especially in the connection with other people. These are the things that move me. They make my feel. And what I feel needs to get out, needs to flow. Painting is the most natural way to me, to let this flow. I love working with watercolours and acrylics .These are two quit different mediums. I love how watercolour is unpredictable and how easily the colours blend. I love acrylics because this medium does exactly what I want and it doesn’t blend on canvas. Because of that I can lose myself in the process.
