Yokohama-based calligrapher, studied calligraphy under Suisen Nakatani since 2000, and was a member of a Japanese calligraphy association until 2021, mainly exhibiting my work at exhibi-tions in Tokyo. I am currently pursuing further expression of my own with a highly flexible style using ink, paper, and brush. “I use only three things: sumi ink, brush, and paper. And kanji (Chi-nese characters) connect them and create a dense, personal space. My goal is to instantly bring to life and create beauty in just one to three kanji characters. If you can sense something univer-sal in the very personal forms that are squeezed out of my own self, I would be very pleased.”
