Bio

Anna Zubets-Anderson “I believe that every individual is a creative being, and that being creative is first and foremost, a process of inner transformation that is accessible to everyone. My art, therefore, aims to facilitate healing, both for myself and for my audience. My goal is for each of my paintings to elevate a life or social issue that needs a resolution or deeper understanding. Much of my recent art celebrates the freedom of female body and spirit and stands in contrast to the way patriarchal culture has defined women for centuries. I am also deeply inspired by nature, and this is also reflected in my images. My work, therefore, also aims to repair the rift between the modern psyche and the environment. My paintings often portray women in nature or in mystical context, and my work is also strongly influenced by the themes of divine feminine, tarot and Jungian archetypes. Prior to becoming a painter, I spent fifteen years expressing myself through aerial dance, and my appreciation of female form and love of movement still show in my work. I use any and all materials I can get my hands on, including colored pencil, acrylic, oil and alkyd-based glass paint. Sometimes I use pouring and other abstract techniques to inspire concepts. My process is intuitive and playful.” Exhibitions: -One Art Space, New York, 2020 -Agora Gallery, New York, 2020 -Galeria Azur, Madrid, 2021
