EDL EDL is a young French artist based in Paris. Born in 1998 near New York and raised in England, EDL’s taste and style was undoubtably influenced by both her artist heritage (great great grand-daughter of painter Jeanne Laganne) and taste for the reassuring vibrant prints of ‘Hermes Carré’ scarves, a signature reminder of her mother, as well as ‘Pucci’ fabric designs. Emily’s paintings seek to reflect what she names “aesthetic emotions”. Indeed, to her, art must give a sense of reassurance, not only in the making, but also within the contemplating. The paintings are thought out to suit well within a soothing and comforting designed interior/home. The artworks themselves reflect an open-ended personal journey of growth, filled with moments of trying, failing, hoping, achieving, loving…and starting over. Every piece has its own artist subjective story, however, should be interpreted by the public according to their own stories, hardships and moments of growth.
