Bio

Sakiko is an artist based in Tokyo, Japan with a bachelor in Western Art History. While studying abroad in Florence, Italy in 2014, she first saw the traditional craft of marbled paper and was struck by the beauty of the deep red color of his land. Fascinated, she studied under Francesca Vanini and completed the Francesca Vanini corso di decorazione e pittura. After returning to Japan, she created many artworks with her unique color tones and patterns, including works on Japanese paper, and held her first solo exhibition "Space" in Tokyo in 2020. In recent years, her main interest has shifted to the world of color and light that develops on the surface of the water during production. She is now working on various methods of expression, including photography as well as video works in collaboration with the performance of a professional cellist. // “I co-create with water. The small surface of water in front of me is a mirror. I follow and capture the movement of colors that react to each other on the water mirror at this very moment. And I wish to tell a story of colors that cannot be touched, but are so ethereal and rich that they are born under the water mirror. It is my great happiness to explore the endless world of colors while confronting myself, and to be able to share the resulting work with others and travel the world.”
