This piece is inspired by mythologies on reflections; specifically, ones about how monsters (such as vampires) usually don’t have one. The lack of their reflection often symbolizes their inhumanity and otherness. Therefore, I started thinking about what happens when one doesn’t see oneself reflected back – about the consequences that that can have, and where one then finds connections and comfort in the world instead. This piece ultimately encapsulates the connections that have brought me solace in a world that I often feel outside of.
