Bio

Luca Coniglio is an eclectic Italian artist based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Born in 1990 in a small Italian village lost amongst the Apennine Mountains, he showed a powerful pull towards arts from a very young age. His artistic upbringing is signed by Renaissance and Romantic influences, as well as a marked attraction towards the contrast between classic and modern arts. However, Luca’s studies did not follow a traditional artistic education. Moved to the United Kingdom in 2008, he pursued engineering and business studies. Both disciplines, although seemingly detached from the artistic world, respectively contributed to the development of two of his distinctive artistic drivers: the wide scientific knowledge of materials and the sarcastic view of modern society, its macroeconomics and its values. Since the age of five, realistic pencil drawing represented Luca’s natural artistic skill. However, with the advancement of his education, his global traveling and his curious mindset, he soon expanded to new methods: such as abstract and liquid painting (acrylic and mixed materials on canvas), as well as CAD and 3D modelling, which sparked the intense appetite for digital design and rendering. Despite the artist’s career in engineering, business and marketing, his artistic vein never faded; on the contrary, it kept growing in parallel to the thirst for new art trends and cutting-edge techniques. This takes us to the 2020’s, which marked the latest step in Luca’s evolution: the world of NFTs and AI. His artworks are often provoking and they are the result of his profound hunger for experimentation. His varied subjects, atypical shapes, the widespread use of exaggerated colours and textures, are aimed at conveying complex human emotions through unusual visuals. It is this contrasting combination of modern creative methods, the taste for classic beauty and the attraction to the twisted and the bizarre, that gives birth to Luca’s alternative eclectic style.
