Bio

I am Raffaella Suaria, an Art School graduate from Bari born in 1990. Firstly, I studied Art in my hometown before graduating in Fashion Design from Marangoni Institute, Milan in 2012.
After completing my degree, I started working for different emerging designers and have had the opportunity to see several of my proposals published in magazines such as Vogue Talent, The Dubai Mall, Grazia and Tennis Magazine. Additionally, I have also taken part in numerous exhibitions and have collaborated with theatres and other talented artists across Europe. My work is multifaceted and ranges from abstract and figurative paintings to illustrations and installations. In Milan, I had the pleasure to collaborate with the theater realizing the stage paintings for the theatrical show ‘IN VOLO’ - ‘Verso gli uccelli di Aristofane,’ curated by Massimiliano Speziani, with the collaboration in the dramaturgy by Tommaso Urselli (OutOff Theater, Milan, 2016). In 2017, I also made the illustration for the text of the show ‘ESSERE BUGIARDO’ by Carlo Guasconi, which was winner of the young Riccione ‘Pier Vittorio Tondelli’ award, which will be published in ‘HYSTRIO’ magazine, a quarterly edition of theater and entertainment.
With figurative and installations work, I can better focus on conceptual projects and in abstract art is where I find the purest freedom to express my feelings and myself. Abstract art allows the viewer to dive into those sensations, giving you the opportunity to experience the atmosphere and emotion that this type of art brings.
I usually paint with a spatula, with my hands or with a classic brush using acrylic or oil paint. I enjoy experimenting with various styles, as I feel art is power in action and when I’m creating and connecting with my art, I feel free, being able to express my emotions and to truly experience and live in the present moment.
