Terre 100x120x3 cm Acrylics, goldpaste and gilding on canvas Created July, 2017 Terre was presented at the Biennale in Florence, the portrait represents mother earth in Renaissance pose with Berber origins, I aimed at letting my portraits, here folks that represent minorities in the world, pose in Renaissance manner, the hand tattoos are symbol for earth. the portrait is a tribal Madonna with the blue earth coloured turban as halo. in Arabic calligraphy is written the main elements that humans need for life, earth, fire, wind, love, water and light. the background is gold powder mixed with sand mass, the neck piece, that is Berber jewel inspired is gilded.
