My name is María del Mar Ruiz Bilbao, shortened to Mar Bilbao as it is easier to recall.
I was born in Bilbao, Basque country and have lived for many years in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain. I have lived in the UK, London and Italy, Milan for some years.
I have always loved creating although my studies had little to do with art. I attained my bache-lor´s art degree in Law, and later on studied legal translation.
So yes, I am mainly self-taught artist, and love to try all kinds of mediums when painting. I would like to be known as a motivational conceptual artist, trying to help others to follow their dreams to the best of their abilities, but above all becoming a better person. “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire” is one of my favorite quotes.
