I was inspired to create this work by the story of Aphrodite and Adonis, from which the anemone flower was derived. Aphrodite was so sad over the loss of Adonis that she turned his blood into anemone flowers. When we are sad, the flowers seem to bloom as if they are healing us. I wanted to depict such flowers.
