Matteo Masciocchi is an Italian illustrator, born in 1996 in Cittiglio in the province of Varese. In 2020 he graduated with top marks in New Technologies of Art from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Born and raised in the rural areas surrounding the shores of Lake Maggiore, he has been in close contact with the characteristic nature of north-western Italy since childhood: broadleaf forests, lakes and marshes. It was in this context that he became interested in zoology, especially arthropods and reptiles.
It is these, in part, that are represented in his works. In his illustrations, there is a representation of the grotesque, the monstrous. Chimeras and hybrids, half-man, half-beast, women having sex with repulsive animals. All of this is represented digitally by means of sharp, marked lines accompanied by pastel colors.
