Bio

I was born in Mexico City in 1969. I have a bachelor ́s degree in Actuary with a MSc in Finance and Economics from University of Warwick, U.K. I earned the A-level degree in Art from London University. I currently work in the financial sector while my passion is painting. I cannot remember a moment where painting hasn ́t been present in my life. There have been periods where its presence has been more intense and others with some distance, but always present. I ́ve experimented with diverse painting techniques and materials for over 30 years. I generally paint with acrylic on canvas, and work with a variety of brushes, spatulas, sponges, airbrush, etc. From time to time, I include some types of textures. Occasionally I use wood or paper as well. My artwork is mainly abstract. I like to start off my paintings with a clear idea that allows me to build on it with freedom, to flow without limits and at the same time constrain my rational and analytic nature to interfere the least in the process. As the painting evolves, I go deeper with obsessive attention to detail. I usually don ́t leave a blank space, spot, or stain without meticulous observation to decide if it needs refinement, or to simply preserve or eliminate it. Themes that have inspired my artwork, among others, include the harmony that can be found in some-thing that apparently seems chaotic; the balance and complementarity of opposites in which I find symmetry; ambivalence of life; and finally, how conflicts move, support, and challenge us.
