Bio
Muhaku Sanada was born in Japan and began their artistic journey through the study of sumi-e (Japanese ink painting). Their delicate yet powerful brushwork has earned recognition in numerous national and international exhibitions.
They have been selected for the National Public Southern Kyushu Sumi-e Exhibition, the Japan-China Exchange Sumi-e Exhibition, the Hyogo Prefecture Sumi-e Association Exhibition, and the Nichibi Art Exhibition in the Sumi-e category. Their work received the Japan-China Friendship Award at the Osaka International Sumi-e Art Exhibition and the Holbein Award at the MOLART Exhibition. They were also selected for the Tamba Art Competition.
Beyond competitions, Sanada has contributed their art to various cultural and social contexts. Their works have been donated to Fukunari-ji Temple Anraku-bo of the Shingon Omuro School and to the Onomichi Beccha Taiko drum ensemble. They also created a commissioned piece for Kazuhiro Shirai, Head Coach of WBC Samurai Japan, and designed the album cover for singer-songwriter Eiichiro Taruki.
The paintings have been featured on Nippon Television’s programs Tenshoku de Tenshoku and Sanma’s Gallery, where the works were also exhibited and sold. Sanada continues to present art through solo and group exhibitions across Japan, including in Tokyo and Osaka, sharing the timeless spirit of sumi-e with a contemporary sensibility.
