Bio

My obsession to paint was born from the need to communicate in a complex, foreign world. Since 2003, I had lived abroad, and in this diverse, “global community” I was searching between language barriers and cultural differences. I had questions around what I could contribute to society by being an American living in Czech Republic and I needed to express myself without words.

Through art, I reinvented myself to convey what I needed the outside world to understand. In this transformative process, I discovered fearlessness and, unexpectedly, a massive sense of connection. My art became the medium in which I could communicate my energy and build bridges between the gaps which I thought had existed—linking countries, communities, genders, lifestyles, cultures, languages, and even the space between heaven and earth. I aim to bring viewers together through my art so that they too find their purpose, their connection, and their understanding of themselves as an essential part of the universe.

Inspiration comes to me from natural elements, colors and textures in nature, music, architecture, travel, people, sounds and emotion. I am also deeply touched by my family’s creative influence and my father’s energy both during his lifetime (Julian Popko, 1938-2017) and his presence in my life even now. After his death, I became acutely interested in understanding other dimensions of the universe and what happens to our energy after passing through this lifetime that we are familiar with. I study the world of vibrations, energy and the quantum realm and to communicate beyond the limitations of time and space. Because it is difficult to understand, I call it magic. Oftentimes, we feel this magic through art. The moment I put paint onto canvas, the energy is transferred and it is determined by the mood that strikes me. When I am in the studio, I sometimes dance or sing and I gain a lot of energy. I feel as if I could paint throughout the entire day and night, without stopping. I am grateful to do what I love and so I am motivated to transfer that optimism through painting.

As my creations communicate energetically, I am driven to connect and inspire people to live intentionally. I aim to encourage others to celebrate every day, to find and shine light as brightly as possible, and to consciously share skills, talents, ideas and gifts with the world. I wish you inspiration on your journey through the universe, experiencing moments that move your soul in ways you would have never dreamed, through art and beyond.
