The spectrum of life is distilled into moments of surprise, disappointment, pleasure, des-pair, and hope. It is within these cycles that we not only find connection with others but truths about ourselves. These deeply personal experiences take visual form through my intensely textured watercolour and mixed media works. Expressive depictions of figures and portraits paired with abstract backgrounds engage experimentations of color and investigations into the monochromatic realm of black and white to entrance viewers with glimpses into alternate realities. Channeling my professional and academic background in an array of visual arts, from various forms of painting to photography, and even digital art forms, I bring these new worlds and narratives to life through meticulously orchestrated compositions and manipulations of sensorial elements. Creating visceral experiences through two-dimensional works, I evoke a diverse range of human emotions. The varying styles and approaches mirror the unpredictable cycles of life. I want my viewers to challenge their own preconceptions through my presentations of the unexpected, the unintended irony, and the subversion of our collective understanding of the everyday. As viewers unearth their own connections within the inherent nostalgia or emotion of a scene, I seek to illuminate new paths, new ways of thinking, and new understandings of our-selves amidst the underlying strangeness of our complex yet fleeting time on this Earth.
