Info
Title: Anadyomene Pheugei –The One Who Arose From Foam Vanishes
Year: 2022
Size: 29,7 x 42 cm
Technique: oil on paper
As if looking through a circular window in a wall, the viewer sees a nude depicted from the back as she strides down to a beach during sunrise. The inscription around the circle states in classic Greek: Anadyomene pheugei. Meaning, “the one arising from foam vanishes”. Anadyomene is a byname of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, which might have also been Eos, the goddess of dawn. The wall shows an austere pattern of dots, which become less mathematical thanks to their friendly coloring.
This painting is available as original, as fine art print, and, from Fall 2022, as NFT.
