Alina Șomodi is a self-taught Romanian abstract painter. She began painting with acrylics and mixed media on canvas and paper in the winter of 2019. Her abstractions are an interplay of shapes, lines, expressive mark making, and sometimes collage elements to create interesting textural dimensions. Having no artistic professional art training, she simply creates from her heart, exploring various techniques for refining her styles. She paints intuitively and spontane-ously, using built-up and obscured layers to embody a sense of curiosity, mystery and imperfec-tion. Her works are both an attempt to express the freedom, rhythm and fluidity of life and a way to project her inner world using mark gestures to declare emotions and feelings. The painting process is a form of transpersonal meditation and self discovery for Alina. She believes art is the most intimate way to manifest herself and a way to connect with other people at the soul level. Her art stands for the possibility of love, inspiration and courage to express creativity in all of us, living life joyfully and playfully.
