Jason Michael Rielly

Abstract Expressionist-Neo-Expressionist-Surrealist Artist

Jason Michael Rielly, native son to Auburn, N.Y., graduate of Auburn High School and
Cayuga Community College, who's common history with Central New York brought him back to upstate after twenty years working extensively all over New York State in both the public and private sectors.
It is, however, the past two years, slowly, that has allowed a creative explosion to occur within Jason’s artistic spirit, causing a rebirth of his true purpose. At 39, Jason has stepped away from his academic studies at NYU Steinhardt, along with his previously professional career in mental health. He finds himself within a self-renaissance, a rebirth of himself, and it is through art, the element of creativity and imagination, that Jason now finds the truest love, joy, and energy in his life.
It is in his art, through the expression of his creativity, his willingness to be vulnerable, open, and exploratory, that oddly provides Jason a soothing place of solace. In two years, art has changed Jason’s life, present reality, and future trajectory. It has elevated his spirits, lifted his soul to the skies, and allowed Jason to see a different world. That world now involves being an emerging artist, painting canvas after canvas, designing digital compositions, participating in the art community locally and globally, and networking and talking with artists worldwide.
Jason hopes to bring positive energy, creativity, exploration, openness, love, and joy, all by expressing his creativity out loud. His journey to this moment has been turbulent, not always rosy. But through perseverance and the same passion for art as he has for life, family, and friends, Jason finds himself in a refuge of contentment. Every day painting is better than any other day!
Jason draws inspiration from many styles and schools of artistic persuasion, including many individual artists. Some of his most powerful inspirations come from Pablo Picasso, Vassily Kandinsky, Vincent Van Gough, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Joan Miro, Paul Cezanne, Paul Klee, Piet Mondrian, Kasimir Malevich, Willem De Kooning, and Arshile Gorky. Jason is a graduate of Cayuga Community College with an Associates Degree in Arts,
concentrating in Social Sciences and Humanities. He is a graduate of the State University of New York, College at Geneseo, holding a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Political Science.
Additionally, Jason has a Master's Degree from the Marist College School of Management in Public Administration. Since 2019, Jason has been pursuing a Master's Degree in clinical psychology from New York University as a graduate student in the Applied Psychology Department within the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Jason is the proud father of a chocolate labradoodle, Barkley, and a pacific blue and teal miniature parrot, Meetro.
