Over the course of his career, Peep Ainsoo (born 1958 in Viljandi, Estonia) has been both a de-signer and an abstract graphic artist, making mostly large-scale ink paintings. Lately, he has turned his focus to digital drawing. This medium has enabled him to search for harmony be-tween the artwork and the space surrounding it. His works are often the results of combining pre-made parts with one another, and with new elements drawn for the specific artwork. The re-sulting digital graphic art is abstract, with spontaneous twists, and for the most part, introspec-tive: since he usually draws images from his mind, the different objects and shapes can be seen as reflections of what has been recorded in his subconscious. Also, Peep's creations are greatly influenced by his favorite artist - Nature itself. This source material is arranged into organised, symmetrical compositions, forming windows into a world that Peep has created. As most of his drawings use a monochrome colour scheme, the viewer has the added possibility to interpret the spatiality of the artwork in various ways by playing around with the foreground and back-ground in the composition. The viewer is invited to see each artwork more than once, on differ-ent occasions, so as to observe how what we see is affected by our own state of mind.
