“For works that are only in black, white, and grey, I first consider the arrangement of black and white, followed by grey. I usually deliberately set this arrangement differently from the one with the three primary colours, red, yellow, and blue, because I want to create a different sense of space with these shades. I noticed that the reflection in some photos of my works is quite obvious. Although I originally considered retaking the photos, I realised that the reflection actually allows the brushstrokes to be seen clearly, so I used the photos with a bit of reflection. Typically, my brushstrokes followed the structure or direction of the object I was painting. The brushstrokes in this series are very delicate and fine.”
