Samantha Osys, in art Sam, works and lives in the UK. She has graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2010. Central to her studies there is the continued fascination with motives, methods, and fashions for body modification in cultures worldwide. The study of humanity concerning behavior, biology, societies, and the questions of what aspects define the human experience has interested her deeply. Gaining a deep understanding of cultural and ethnic differences and learning how people’s perspectives, beliefs and practices fit into a broader social, political, and economic context is what inspires and defines her art. She uses collage and her own painting technique to create unique, expressionistic pieces that focus on what aspects define the human experience. In a world defined by social media, fake news and an attention deficit crisis, her art depicts how the experiences we are bombarded with can make us feel trapped. Trying to maneuver the current societal landscape is chaotic and often leaves us asking questions about what is real and fake?
