The painting “The Woman with no Face” depicts a self portrait of my inner conflict. The work is not about losing hope or disintegration of oneself but it is about confronting and accepting the current state. I wanted to evoke a sense of stillness, a sense of peacefulness that is almost macabre, but at the same time the most sincere and wholehearted state that one can be. It is about the battles with yourself, with your subconscious mind, with your own demons as one might say. Therefore, the painting elicits a dark, gloomy but sumptuous and gentle atmosphere which portraits the very essence of one’s life.
