Bio

Flor de Ceres Rabaçal is a portuguese printmaker and illustrator whose work is primarily fo-cused on death and violence and the way these reflect themselves in art. She explores the medi-um of printmaking in a way that makes this relationship evident not only in the resulting work but also within the very practice of printmaking, the primary proposal being that etching is an exercise in violence and that this character manifests itself in each and every single act of its cre-ation, ultimately being an expression of forceful acts directed upon the metal. She has recently (2020) co-authored a paper on the subject of obscure techniques in printmaking, titled “A White Ground for Etching: An Argument for Rembrandt’s Lost Ground”, presented in the 2020 CON-FIA international conference.
