Raisa Mariam Rajan is an artist and entrepreneur who lives in Dubai. Raisa started her journey as an artist through illustrations, portraits, glass paintings, and acrylic artworks. The canvas lat-er became a space to experiment with different mediums and textures. For Raisa, art is a power-ful medium to express herself. She likes to make strong statements on society, life, and the events that happen around her through her art. It acts like a deep meditation, a soul-searching process that plays a pivotal role in shaping herself as a woman. Women around the world are subconsciously programmed to suppress their emotions. They need to express all those sub-dued feelings and purge themselves. Raisa truly believes in this Cathartic function of art. Raisa has been doing extensive research in the field of sustainability and has come up with sustainable products that she uses in her art. She travels to other countries to learn more about the same and tries to spread the message through art. According to her, the need to conserve planet earth for posterity is the need of the hour and sustainability should be given prime importance as mankind evolve
further. Raisa is also an art teacher and has been acclaimed for her role in shaping not only the artistic talents of her students but also their lives in a positive way. Raisa has many national and international art exhibitions to her credit which include World Art Dubai and Qatar International Art Festival. She has been to the Montenegro Art Residency Program and is preparing for an art residency program in Europe. Her artworks were showcased in Italy, Spain, Montenegro, Seychelles, Qatar, and UAE. Raisa’s directorial venture named “The Journey of Jawhara”, an artistic journey through the history of UAE has been unveiled in DIFC, Dubai as part of the National Day celebrations. The artwork gained attention from various walks of life due to its unique com-position and excellent depiction of the history of the UAE. Raisa also successfully participated in the Live Art organized in the Indian Pavilion of Expo 2020 and Index Exhibition 2022. She has been featured in many eminent publications like the Artmosphere Magazine and Magzoid’s “Artists in Focus 2022”. She has been one of the panelists in the “Only One Earth to Revitalize” organized to promote sustainability. She is currently working on her upcoming exhibition in Singapore. Raisa continues her artistic journey with zest and believes that it is in the art that
the future of the world lies.
