Stellar is an on-going series of acrylic on canvas paintings inspired by an article I read about a possible non-physical realm of existence to which various phenomena, psychic and other, are ascribed. I create an ethereal looking quality to invoke a feeling that you’re “catching a glimpse” of phenomena (spiritual, deep space, water, weather patterns). I build up multiple layers of luminous acrylic color to achieve a dynamic interplay between surface, space, color, and light. The insets within the painting act as individual scenes, yet when viewed as a whole the painting has unity, depth, and appears illuminated from within.
