Spen was born and raised in Canada near the mountains and amongst the old growth forests, where he learned to appreciate the inter-dependency with nature and with one-another. Most of Spen’s work stems from and is an expression of that interrelatedness, including the unseen ways it undermines structures and ideas intended to keep us separate. Beyond artsy endeavors, Spen works as a mental health clinician.
