Meredith Lloyd Smith - Anna Finlayson Brief Bio Estelle is a collaborative project established by life-long friends with a shared interest in and love of art, design and fashion and music. Embracing rich colour and sumptuous textures, our newest range of abstract works brings together multiple techniques and approaches to painting that explore temporality, process and the joy of colour. Often celebrating our work time with a cocktail or a glass of champagne (and always with music blaring!) we love to work together in the outside studio rain, hail or Aussie heatwave!! please use one of the images I have sent you for our profile picture. GAIA \"...a glow that makes thoughts and emotions explode.\" (GAIA Exhibition summary) An essential part of Estelle's process is that each new work is approached as an individual creative exploration that combines expertise with serendipitous discovery. The paintings are lovingly produced in a number of stages resulting in multiple layers that combine sumptuous colour with metallic and glitter laden pigments. We rely on the natural movement and velocity of the paint when layered onto the canvas. Colour and form is the image, it is a frozen moment of motion and creation captured time. We begin the process, guiding, but never controlling. The paint and the 3 dimensional objects that are attached to the canvas, do the rest. As we watch the unfolding beauty we revel in the mysterious nature of the mixing and moving of colour before our eyes! The resultant artworks are beautiful and unique examples of our joyous process that captures the tempo and materiality of paint. The beauty of this particular work (Fur Balls) is that it always appears different. The addition of glitter and texture to the surface of the canvas creates a work that changes with the light, capturing highlights and glowing and moving as the viewer moves around the work.
