Bio
Michelle Angela Jenkins I have been practicing and exhibiting my work in various countries. I was born in Ontario, Canada. I studied at Fanshawe College and obtained my Development Services Worker - Deaf Major and Educational Assistant. At the University of Windsor, Ontario I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in the field of Multicultural Studies where Art was my minor and Italian was my major. At the University of Dante Alighieri, Florence, Italy, I studied Italian Language and History. I also studied at the University of Toronto, where I obtained a Bachelor of Education. During this time, I was fortunate enough to obtain a full scholarship to do my practice teaching in Antigua. My father was born in London, Ontario, Canada into one of the first black families in my city. His family home has been awarded a plaque by the city and several students have written university theses on his history and background. He always instilled in us that Education is essential. In February 2018 my father’s sister Kay Livingston had the distinct honour of being commemorated on a postage stamp for the month of February 2018 in Canada. This prestigious honour further motivates me towards empowering and supporting women. I have exhibited my Art across the globe in such countries as Barbados, Antigua, Canada, France, UAE and Saudi Arabia. Whilst I have been in Riyadh I have exhibited at the Acoustic Tea Lounge and Art Gallery, and I was proud to be the first North American to hold workshops at L’Art Pur Gallery. I was also selected to exhibit in Florence as one of four female Artists to represent International Women’s Day on March 8, 2018. This past month I was selected as the first Artist guest speaker at the Corona WorldWide Women’s organization in Riyadh. Last October 2017 I exhibited in Paris, France at the Carrousel du Louvre and I am overjoyed to be accepted to exhibit this coming October 2018 at the same venue. I have always had a passion for Art since I was a child. To exhibit my works is not only a dream come true but an honour to share my emotions and feelings with others.
