Info

Title: MARIA - Salvation of humanity vs. desperation of a mother Size: 70cm x 50cm Medium: Acryl on canvas My painting takes up the question: Would Mary have chosen the immaculate conception, if God had previously told her about the imminent martyrdom of her / his Son in order to redeem humanity? In my eyes, God betrayed Mary of her son by depriving her of the truth! Mary was just a tool, a vessel for the manifestation of Jesus in the eternal struggle between good and evil. This is reflected in the picture by the black and white frame and the contrasting light and dark colors. The different shades of color are intended to remind us that the battle between good and bad is raging in everyone. There is neither pure good nor bad, we are a variety of shades of gray. The golden frame stands for the divine spark that we carry, which is to serve as an ideal for our actions and striving. Mary's bloody tears represent her pain over the loss of her son and God's betrayal of her. Mary is depicted only vaguely, which is intended to illustrate the reduction of her personality to the birth machine of Jesus. Artist: Stephan Willems
