Gillian was born in Lancashire, England, After leaving school at the age of 16, she began to write poetry. Most of her work was written in the 90s. She has had several poems published in individual anthologies over the years, most recently this year in an American journal. After a long and varied career, in 2019 Gillian retired and decided to take up painting during the first lockdown. She is a self-taught artist who likes to experiment with a range of different styles and techniques. Her preferred medium is acrylic and she enjoys the freedom of expression brought by abstract painting. Since the start of lockdown, Gillian has completed over 120 pieces. She has enjoyed sharing her work with the artistic community on Instagram. She spends most days writing and painting, with family close by, and feels very blessed.

Artist Statement:
I paint with a free spirit and all from my imagination. I love the texture of acrylic paint and find it very forgiving. I am at my happiest when writing poetry and painting.
