Intuitive, authentic, natural, expressive. These are the main pillars of Susanna Poméll’s art. Expressing herself through singing from a very young age, Poméll first grabbed the paint brush when she studied to be a professional hair artist. After a decade of mastering the art of hair painting, she started to feel a very strong urge to paint canvas as well. ”It started like a sweet litte whisper but the voice got stronger as the time went by and I couldn’t ignore it anymore. I felt like I just had to do it, something was waiting to come out. My beloved grandmother was an artist. Her legacy continues the journey through my hands.” Poméll creates abstract art intuitively, diving deep into her inner self. ”Painting is the way to translate my imagination and my inner world.” Poméll considers her painting process as a intense therapy, converting her memories and emotions into something beautiful and healing. ”The most beautiful outcomes have become from my most painful memories and emotions. I’m not afraid to process, to sit with the thoughts and do the work. As the thoughts come to light, from my soul into the canvas, we can see the beauty of the journey. Since the energy never disappears, whether it’s good or bad, I choose to transform the energy stored in me into something nourishing and couraging.” There’s always a lyrical approach when it comes to Poméll’s artistry, whether it’s in her abstract art, portrait photographing or hair styling. Poméll’s first solo exhibition was held in July 2022 at Galleria Albert IX, Helsinki. She was also part of the group exhibition at Natural High Healing Festival 2022.
