Bio
Art has always been my form of escapism; I enter a dimension on where new realities can be drawn. A subject that resonates close to my heart is our self-perception to align with externalmexpectations, which then lead to identity crises and performance anxiety within us all. Through art I’m able to enter a special place. The semi-abstract paintings allows the viewer to enter a creative state of mind in which they can interpret the art in their own way.
My father, Curt Kallman was accomplished painter, having been entitled by The Royal Academy of Fine Art, Stockholm as a Master of painting. His collections were represented at The National Gallery, Stoc holm, and the contemporary art collection of the Royal family of Sweden. Having been surround-ed by my father’s creativity all my life, I had gained a depth of pure creativity and knowledge that I am now able to use within my own works today.
The thought behind my artwork is to welcome the viewer into a space where imperfection is central to perfection. To start with a plane state of mind, without motive creates a clear pallet for my vison. Using tempera and acrylic paints, I am able to create bold colours and textures within the brush strokes, which create an o chestra of chaos on the canvas. The layers of different colours allow me to choose which forms to bring forward unconsciously and undirected. The accidental shading and highlighting create subtle, in-depth shadowing, with dark nuances. The half-abstract nature is a result of my method where I try to reach perfection through imperfection. It is the imperfection that is the central focus, where the viewer enters a state of mind where the exact moment of the creative and imperfect space is created.
