This is the Dragon blood tree, an endogenous tree to the Island of Socotra, Yemen.
I painted this tree to bring awareness to this endangered tree, unless preserved these trees might disappear from the face of earth. Their naming came from the fact that they produce a blood-like color of red sap, that those trees produce. Growing up, there was a method associated with these trees, the story goes that those trees grew from the blood of “Abel” when his brother “Cain” killed him, from the “Bible”. To indicate how old these trees lived, which about 600 years. It represents as a reminder from God to not let jealousy consumes you, where it might lead you to kill your own kin.
