Laura Schneider was born in 1990 in Bietigheim – Bissingen, Germany. In her lifetime, she moved twice, once in “Black Forest” and another in “Freiburg”, her studies focused on music and theology. Laurah has been self-employed with art and music since 2019. She currently lives in the border triangle with France and Switzerland in the Black Forest, Germany. “I have always loved painting. Watercolour, acrylic, charcoal. Over the years of my life, everything took shape and occupied more and more space until it became my work and one of the essential means, along with music, to express myself and to encourage people to express themselves and face their emotions.” I have seen the depths of life, which some of my collections takes up. Once the painting is finished, I enter into an inner dialogue with it. Each stroke harbours an impulse, an emotion and is just as important as the whole work itself. Most of my artwork is pure canvas. It is important to me not to cover everything up with a primer. The pure material should be just as visible as the paint. It is a part of the painting and does not only serve as a material for the application of paint. The pure canvas, as a synonym for pure life. For the basis. Without life, no emotion. The canvas or life is inescapable in order to let emotions arise or to be lived by them. When the destructive urge in my paintings subsided due to the changes in my life, I worked on a new technique that allows me to create flowing worlds of colour that are expressive. My new paintings are not created standing on the precipice, aggressively, emotionally despairing with acrylic paint, but with watercolour, in fluid form from tubes on medium canvas.
