Maria Stoltefaut
Visual Artist
Bio
Maria Stoltefaut is a visual artist. Her works emerge intuitively and in close dialogue with natural materials, ash, pigments, marble dust, sediments or wax. She finds inspiration both in the landscapes in which she lives – in Germany and Italy – as well as in her own inner experiences and perceptions. Each work develops through many phases: layering, condensation, dissolution. Cracks, traces and overlays are not mere coincidences, but an expression of time, change and memory. This process gives rise to complex, multi-layered surfaces that convey both vulnerability and resilience. Her works invite viewers to sense the unseen within the visible. In the interplay of stillness and movement, material and light, she opens pictorial spaces that point beyond the purely aesthetic, towards a deeper experience of nature and existence. Her works have been shown in exhibitions in Germany and abroad and are represented in private and public collections.
