Bio

Artist, I decided to go by the name of Lylas Zola (Lylas as Lilas flower, its purple color and its sweet fragrance, Zola for my favorite French writer). I was born and grew up in the Grand Duché of Luxembourg. I went to Paris to study fashion and graphic design; two learnings who bring me a lot today in my creations. As the time passed by, I wasn’t drawing anymore and I became a receptionist. It has been during the Covid19 pandemic that I felt a strong need to take back my nib and my Indian ink and draw again. At that moment, I did the promise to myself that I won’t ever stop drawing again! My creativity is guided by my passion for Art Nouveau/Belle Epoque and the interest for fashion. Flowers patterns and womanhood are the main elements in my compositions; I work details in each of my portraits allowing to create a connection between the visitor’s eye and the artwork, and being able to immersed in what she/he’s looking at and to get the freedom to create her/his own story.
