The background is the Constitution of the United States. Raised hands, represent the diversity of America and the labor exerted by all its people. Rather than stars in the field of blue on the American flag is an image of the world superimposed by the poem “New Colossus” by Emma Lazarus (an inscription that appears on the Statue of Liberty), welcoming all people from all corners of the world. “We the People,” “E Pluribus Unum” (out of many one), the founding principles of the United States which, I believe, are reminders for not only Americans but all people of this world to respect the dignity, sanctity and equality of all human beings, and all life.
