Bio

BIO
ANA HERRAIZ Madrid, 1993. Ana Herraiz is a self-taught Spanish artist. From an early age he showed interest in drawing and painting, finding in art a therapeutic way of expressing his emotions and desires as well as how to face his internal fears and concerns. His first artistic influence was Salvador Dalí, the greatest exponent of the surrealist current, who inspired him to enhance his creativity and express his idealistic character through the world of dreams. Likewise, his creations were always marked by a clear social interest due to his nonconformist attitude towards life and daily problems. In 2016 he graduated in Law from the Carlos III University of Madrid, a fact that contributed to consolidating his subversive style and interest in transforming social problems through art. Between 2013 and 2016 he moved to the city of Paris for studies, where he found inspiration in the impressionist aesthetic characterized by the use of saturated colors with a lot of light. He has held national exhibitions in Barcelona, Zaragoza and internationally in Paris and Tuscany. He currently lives and works in Barcelona Capital.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT
The purpose of her work is to shake consciences. The artist is interested in protest art since she conceives it as a powerful tool for both social and internal change in each human being. All her creations have an inspiring or transgressive message to provoke an internal reflection in the viewer, without leaving him indifferent. She frequently resorts to the association of abstract ideas and concepts typical of figurative art, moving away from the merely aesthetic discourse. The materials she uses are usually acrylics and oils, with which she likes to experiment on different textures and supports. She loves saturated colors, a symbol of strength and Energy.
