Sofia Kastrinaki is a contemporary artist based in Athens, Greece. Her paintings are characterised by brilliant colors, playful geometric shapes, magical circles, artistic symbols and quality lines. Her creations are a true reflection of her heart and personality. Sofia’s art pieces inspire you to find your inner child, to live to the fullest and encourage you to fulfil your dreams!... Although Sofia has a Diploma and Master’s in Business Administration from Cardiff University, UK, Sofia is passionate about painting. Her artistic journey has started at the age of four years old… It was no surprise to anyone when she was voted as the best artist in her high school year book. Her maternal grandmother was her first mentor as she was also a talented artist… She has been inspired by the work of Joan Miró, Yayoi Kusama and Friedensreich Hundertwasser… Now she feels the luckiest person in the world to be able to paint almost every day. Sofia paints colourful figures, castles, cities and life by using layering techniques...She always manage to express a definite, strong mood or feeling…There are castles in most of her creations because of her origins…Kastelli, Kissamou is a small town in west Crete, at the north west end of the island. The town of Kastelli (Castello), is named after a castle that was built in the 16th Century by the Venetians… and the painter’s father comes from Kastelli…Sofia Kastrinaki adores painting! Her works of art tell stories with positive messages. For her, art is the highest form of hope. STATEMENT

Sofia Kastrinaki is a contemporary Greek Expressionist. Her paintings are characterised by bright colors, playful geometric shapes, magical circles, spiral motifs, quality lines and artistic symbols.Sofia Kastrinaki is working approximately in eight layers with acrylic colors and tempera on canvas. Layering techniques help her to capture rich depth, movement, three dimensions and atmosphere in her artworks. It takes about three weeks’ time to finalize each of her creations… She adds different colors one over the other by waiting until one layer dries very well before applying the next one. By using multiple layers, she can achieve subtle colors shifts and tangible depth. Sofia’s Kastrinaki artworks are distinctive, unique and they can’t be printed because they are three dimensional embossed paintings on canvas.
