Bio

Marialuisa Sabato, born in Bari in 1968, graduated in Painting in 1994 from the Academy of Fine Arts in her city.
She is a painter, illustrator and writer of books for children and teenagers and has participated in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, in Art Galleries, Institutional Offices and Museums. She has exhibited in New York, London, Basel, Stuttgart, Berlin, Japan, Innsbruck and in the Provencal town of St. Paul de Vence.
Among the museum exhibitions there are: the Diotti Museum in Casalmaggiore (Cremona); the Cesare Pavese Birthplace Museum in Santo Stefano Belbo (CN); the Museum of the Champions of Novi Ligure (AL); the MAGMA near Caserta and the Natural History Museum of Tirana. Some of his works are permanently in the Museum of Cuccaro Monferrato (AL), dedicated to Christopher Columbus and in the Sartori Museum in Mantua (Adalberto Sartori collection).
Among the Institutional Offices: the Marazza Foundation of Borgomanero, where she was invited to exhibit her works and was awarded twice with her nursery rhymes; the Palagio di Parte Guelfa in Florence; Palazzo Rospigliosi in Zagarolo, in the Province of Rome; Villa Serra in Comago Sant’Olcese (Genoa), the Congress Palace in Salsomaggiore Terme; The Spinola di San Luca Palace in Genoa and then again the Diocesan Auditorium della Vallisa in Bari. He has also exhibited in Ferrara, Rome, Milan, Messina, Taormina, Bagheria, Turin, Venice, Bologna, Udine, Monza, Carrara, Reggio Emilia, Vercelli, Sanremo, Cremona, Naples, Salerno, Pisa, Matera.
In 2008 she won first prize at the BARBERART International Art Competition in Nizza Monferrato (ASTI) and was selected for participation in the IV International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Ferrara (Palazzo Ex - Borsa).
She wins the "Critical Review Award" at the third edition (2009) of the International Small Format Award organized by the LA PERGOLA Art Gallery in Florence.
She is selected for participation in the CESARE PAVESE XX PAINTING AWARD (2009 edition) at the Cesare Pavese Birthplace Museum in S. Stefano Belbo (CN).
In November 2009 she was a finalist in the International Painting Prize "Leafing through Christmas", organized by the "Il Borgo" Gallery in Milan.
She is a finalist in the fourth edition (2011) of the INTERNATIONAL ART AWARD "The Toy" at the Institution Museum Palazzo Rospigliosi in Zagarolo (Rome) and, in March 2011, she won the NATIONAL PRIZE for POETRY and NARRATIVE ALBEROANDRONICO ROME.
In September 2011 she ranks second in the 9th edition of the NARRATIVE NARRATIVE COMPETITION for BOYS "La Casa della Fantasia" - nursery rhymes section - organized by the "Achille Marazza" Foundation of Borgomanero (Novara), from which she is invited to exhibit her works in the prestigious exhibition spaces of the foundation itself.
In December 2016 she was selected and admitted to the first "Bari International Art Biennial" organized and promoted by the Federico II Events Association of Bari.
In November 2017 she was selected as a finalist artist, for the traveling exhibition of the INTERNATIONAL PAINTING AWARD "SACRED NIGHTS 2017" organized and promoted by the Federico II Events Association of Bari.
In March 2018 she received MENTION of MERIT "for having expressed nature in a dreamlike context" during the final evening of the "Energie Vitali" exhibition organized by the "Il Golfo" Association of Taranto, set up in the splendid setting of the Ex Ospedale San Rocco in Matera.
In September 2018 she received HONORABLE MENTION for the Figurative Art Section, at the 5th edition of the 2018 Sacred Nights International Award in Bari.
In July 2021 she is selected with two works for the MUDI in ARTE prize at the Diocesan Museum of Salerno.
In November 2021 she obtained a diploma of merit for participation in the 4th edition of the International Biennial of Art of Salerno.
Numerous journalists, critics and art historians have written and published in national and international art magazines and catalogs, articles and critical reviews on her art.
Marialuisa Sabato is among the selected artists published in the prestigious SARTORI D'ARTE MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART CATALOG "ITALIAN ARTISTS 2022", edited by Arianna Sartori, Archivio Sartori Editore.
