Description
It emerges in the light of the lamp, a lionfish. Its fan-shaped pectoral fins and long, almost free standing spines shimmer in the light. It looks like an encounter with a creature of a different kind. For many sea creatures, it is exactly that. The lionfish, which is actually native to the Indo Pacific and the Red Sea, is spreading more and more in areas where it has no natural predators.
Introduced by ballast water or released by aquarium owners, it is spreading throughout the world's oceans and conquering areas whose inhabitants are no match for it.
